Hong Kong to host 'Logistics, Shipping and Air Transport Asia Conference' to explore industry collaboration opportunities

Co-organized by the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the 12th Logistics, Shipping and Air Transport Conference Asia (LSCA) will be held for two consecutive days starting from the 22nd of this month at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) and the online platform. Under the theme of "Achieving Sustainable Supply Chains: Connections - Collaboration - Innovation", the conference will focus on how global enterprises can respond to current challenges and opportunities in the face of the new normal of the supply chain through international and inter-regional collaboration, and discuss the future direction of sustainable development.

Mr. Lau Wai-ping, Vice President of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, said that against the backdrop of uncertainties such as global inflation, significant interest rate hikes around the world and geopolitical tensions, the conference will explore how companies can collaborate to address supply chain challenges, climate change and economic recovery. Other focuses include the unique advantages of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the opportunities presented by the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), and the role of innovative solutions in driving supply chain intelligence in the logistics and shipping industry.

It is reported that, in addition to the Hong Kong on-site and online platform sessions, the conference will also arrange a number of sessions at home and abroad, bringing together more than 80 logistics, shipping, air transport, supply chain management and other sectors of the international organization representatives to visit or online speeches, is expected to attract more than 50 countries and regions of the 14,000 audience participation. 

On the first day of the conference, Zhang Xiangchen, Deputy Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), will discuss how governments and businesses can mitigate the impacts of supply chain disruptions, climate change and other crises on global trade through international and inter-regional collaboration, in order to promote an inclusive economy, achieve equitable growth and stabilize the international supply chain, and promote sustainable development.

The expert panel discussion on the same day will be titled "Strengthening Supply Chain Networks in Asia", exploring how RCEP can create business opportunities through integrating trade and supply chains in the region. In the special session, industry leaders will share their strategies and insights on business development in the Greater Bay Area, and provide practical business solutions for SMEs interested in exploring the market in the region; The Air Transport Forum will discuss Hong Kong's vision as an "Airport City", including how to substantially increase capacity at the three airport runways, expansion of express cargo terminals, high-end logistics centers, manpower training, collaboration with Mainland airports, etc.; the Shipping Forum will discuss how to enhance the shipping industry's commitment to sustainability, decarbonization and digitization, and analyze the development potential of sustainable and digital shipping in the industry.
